Nekia Hattley

Nekia Hattley was born in Los Angeles to a family that was soon blasted by her creative juices and powerful flair for fashion and the arts. Nekia developed a passion for fashion as early as six years old; when she spent hours creating outfits using only the finest socks, shirts, pants, and dresses from her own closet to produce Barbie’s many fabulous ensembles. Unfortunately, Nekia’s only compensation for Barbie’s excellent fashion collection was punishment from her parents for destroying her own clothing. But, thankfully Nekia has graduated from using socks into using some of the finest fibers, and from Barbie onto working on unique, and one of a kind pieces’ for her new fashionable constantly growing clientele.

Nekia Hattley, went on to be Hollywood’s wardrobe designer, working beside Academy Award Designer Tim Chapel on Steven Segal’s “Today You Die,” and the hit TV series “Family Guy.” She is also stylist and wardrobe designer for a laundry list of other productions and clients including Pepsi, Dodge, Toyota, Mc Donalds, and Netscape.

Nekia’s school of choice for fashion was Los Angeles Trade Technical College, which she attended after receiving her BA in theater performance, film and screen play writing at California State University of Long Beach. At LA Trade Tech, Nekia studied under Ms. Helen Armstrong and many other fashion greats. It was there that she received a number of certificates that affirmed her gift for fashion. It was also there were she was honored with the first place Golden Thimble award for her entry in the Men’s category.

Nekia was soon prompted and heartened to start her own clothing line, which she called “Ja`ire.” Ja`ire is named after Nekia’s sister who is the essence of what Nekia’s line stands for, (beauty, fun, uniqueness, craziness, creativity, and most of all sexiness.) Nekia’s pieces of wearable art have been displayed in many fashion shows and events across the United States establishing Ja`ire as a well-known brand. Nekia has been blessed to dress and style many celebrities including Jennifer Garner, Terry Ellis, Davetta Sherwood, Gulshan Grover, Lovie Jung, and many others in her unique and couture designs of Ja`ire International Couture. Nekia thanks God for her gift, and her mother, sisters and friends for their support and pushing her to be her best.

Ja`ire

Ja`ire was born in Los Angeles, California as the youngest of seven. Blessed with numerous talents such as singing, dancing, modeling, acting, a great business mind and exceptional people skills, Ja`ire has always been an initiator and an entrepreneur. Growing up in a family with a lot of love but a lack of fortune, Ja`ire was constantly thinking of ways to make things better and to contribute to the success of herself, her family and those around her. She started off with a candy business in elementary, and then started a baby-sitting business as a preteen. By the time she was fifteen she worked two jobs and attended high school and college full-time, simultaneously. She graduated from high school and entered the prestigious university of UCLA in Los Angeles, CA as a Communication Studies major at the age of 16.

Since then, Ja`ire has worked for several publicity companies including ARPR Marketing, Rogers and Cowan, and Stan Rosenfield and Associates. She has worked at various entertainment, red carpet and, publicity events, such as Los Angeles Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Nordstrom fashion show, Tri-Destined Awards, Fly-Poet and Spoken word and music showcase, Los Angeles Film Festival and many more, developing contacts and gaining knowledge along the way. Her experience comes mostly from many of the entertainment fields from music to acting to fashion. She has also worked as a public accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Ja`ire’s great sense of fashion has carried over into her work as an exceptional stylist under Ja`ire International Couture.

Ja`ire has elevated from fashion model and the muse for Ja`ire International Couture into a very dedicated and hardworking Partner and Marketing director.
